The place of catching herring is located at the island of Lofoten. The seasonality of the catch is October. Especially during this time of the year the herring has the best fish meat and fat.
Lofoten is the name of an archipelago and a traditional district in the county of Nordland, Norway. Lofoten is known for a distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands. The islands have for more than 1,000 years been the centre of great cod fisheries, especially in winter, when the cod migrates south from the Barents Sea and gathers in Lofoten to spawn.
